Rituximab in advanced rheumatoid arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) continues to have a major impact on public health. Costs to the individual and to the NHS are high, and treatment options for RA are by no means perfect. This article reviews rituximab, an agent that interrupts inflammatory events via a novel mode of action, and shows promise as a new intervention in cases of moderate to severe RA.
